Lake Superior

Nestled along the pristine shores of Lake Superior, our guest home offers an unmatched experience in one of the most unique and breathtaking locations in the world. Lake Superior is not only the largest and deepest of the Great Lakes, but it’s also the clearest, allowing you to see up to 8 feet underwater! The vibrant red sandstone cliffs surrounding our lakeside are an iconic feature, with their rich layers extending even beneath the water’s surface, offering stunning views.

Even during the height of summer, Lake Superior stays refreshingly cold, and locals eagerly await the moment it warms up enough to dive in. It’s a rite of passage to be the first brave soul to take a dip in its chilly waters after the long winter thaw!

For those visiting in January, don’t miss the Haikenpaiva Festival, hosted by Finlandia University. The month-long celebration of Finnish heritage includes exciting events like the Polar Bear Dive Challenge, where participants from Finlandia University, Michigan Tech, and local residents dive into the frigid waters as part of the fun. Plus, the Haikenpaiva Parade brings the community together for a festive and cultural celebration.

And, of course, winter ice fishing is a must-try activity for both locals and visitors, making for an unforgettable experience on the frozen lake.

Come explore the majesty of Lake Superior—whether you’re seeking adventure, peace, or a taste of the local culture, there’s something for everyone here!
