It is the life of the crystal, the architect of the flake, the fire of the frost, the soul of the sunbeam. This crisp winter air is full of it. ~John Burroughs, “Winter Sunshine”
"Rest is not idleness, and to lie sometimes on the grass under trees on a summer's day listening to the murmur of the water, or watching the clouds float across the sky, is by not means a waste of time." -- John Lubbock
Cheryl's home on Keweenaw Bay is completely lovely. After hiking the area (stunning in the autumn!) on a cool and drizzly day, we especially enjoyed warming up in the jacuzzi area. Breakfast was delicious, and Cheryl - aside from being a well of information - is courteous and friendly.
We had two marvelous days with Cheryl. She is a wonderful host and her home is exactly as advertised. The setting is absolutely beautiful and if the lake is calm, be sure to kayak along the colorful cliffs. Spectacular! If you are anywhere near the UP, make this your stop... you won't be disappointed!M
Cheryl was an excellent host, always available and very helpful with any questions we had. The house itself was lovely and right on the lake, and the hot tub/sauna were a great special extra. I will say that it was a little difficult to find the place, but we arrived at night in winter weather, so that probably had a lot to do with it.
What an amazing place & considerate host! We found LaRose to be a perfect respite after a cold weekend camping late in October in the Porkies- hot tub and sauna... can't be beat! The room was immaculate, inviting, breathtaking view of the bay. Highly recommended for a relaxing stay up in the UP!
